MUSEO JALLPHA KALCHAKI, located in the Kalchaki Valleys of Salta, Argentina, is a regional archaeology museum undergoing a transformative shift. Moving beyond its colonial legacy, the museum is actively rethinking its role — critically revisiting inherited narratives and generating research that highlights agroecological perspectives and uncovers Indigenous knowledge rooted in the local landscape.

The local agricultural sector faces a number of systemic challenges, including insufficient water infrastructure and a lack of consistent governmental support. In response, Museo Jallpha Kalchaki focuses on strengthening intangible resources — such as local knowledge, cultural resilience, and the generation of hope. In collaboration with Collective Fabula, the museum has been leading a series of socially engaged workshops aimed at supporting agroecology-oriented communities, fostering actionable knowledge exchange, and building networks around local ecological practices. These initiatives also invite community members to collectively imagine and shape more hopeful futures.
